  34. Everest Trekking

The Everest Trek region of Nepal is one of the best known treks in the world. This is the land of the Sherpa people and the world's great 8,000 meter peaks. Many trekkers walk in from the road head at Jiri, through the lovely rolling hills of the Solu region. Others fly in to the village of Lukla to start their trek. A few days above Lukla is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park and the town of Namche Bazaar, where most trekkers take a day to acclimatize to the high altitude. From here one may branch towards the village of Thame or continue on to take on of the two main Khumbu routes, to Gokyo Lake or towards the Everest base camp. Beyond Namche Bazaar is the Sherpa village of Khumjung and further on the famous monastery of Thyangboche. Here the Mani Rimdu festival of dances is celebrated every year.

  41. Langtang Gosainkund Circuit Trek begins with a 132km 8-10 hour bus ride from Kathmandu that follows the torturous and scenically exciting road to cross the Dhotre Khola, before turning north up the Trisuli Nadi to Syabru Besi (Lower Syabru): the starting point of the trek. Langtang Gosaikund trekking into the Langtang Valley, winds up the Langtang Khola, through forests of oak, rhododendron and then bamboo on the higher reaches of the trail. Shy red panda inhabit this valley. Kyanjin Gompa is a Sherpa village and an ideal place to experience the spiritual lifestyle of these Buddhist people: the monastery is about 700 years old.

An early morning hike up Tserko Ri (4 984m/16 352ft) to about 4600m offers tremendous panoramic views of the High Himalaya, including Langtang Lirung (7 227m/23 712ft) and the foot of one of its glaciers. If time, a second short hike to a glacial moraine will offer similar views. A traditional cheese factory can also be explored in Langtang classical valley trek.

Our Langtang Gosaikund trekking route, then returns, via Lama Hotel, to Thulo Syabru (Big Syabru). Then to Chandan Bari (and the Shin Gompa): with magnificent views of Ganesh Himal (7422m/24 351ft) to the NW on the border with Tibet and Langtang II (6 596m/21 641ft) in the North Eastt. Next is the walk to Laurebina Yak and then on to Gosainkund. Watch the sun rise over the numerous glistening lakes: believed to have been created by Lord Shiva after striking the rock with his trident. It is an important pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus.

This Langtang Helambu trail then passes over the Laurebina La (4 609m/15 121ft) and then descends gradually into the Helambu Valley with its terraced farmlands and rice paddies. The scenery is softer with views of the Dorje Lakpa and Jugal Himal ranges. Numerous Buddhist monasteries dot the countryside around the villages of Kutumsang, Chisopani and the large Tamang village of Mulkharka. From Sundarijal, a short one hour drive back to your Hotel.

  42. Helambu trek to the northeast of the Kathmandu Valley is a popular short trek into the Middle Hills. This culturally rich Tamang and Sherpa inhabited Helambu Circuit region is located just 70km north of Kathmandu and is an excellent destination in which to explore beautiful old forests and varied farmlands while crossing the ridges formed by rushing rivers from the uplands. Helambu valley trekking offers ample opportunity to sample the Tamang and Sherpa cultures and to interact with these warm and friendly people.

Helambu region lies to the south of the Langtang region which is the third most popular trekking region in Nepal. Beautiful mountains such as Langtang Lirung (7227m) Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and the Jugal Himal along the Tibetan border, rise to the north and east of the valley.

Helambu circuit trek is comparatively easy with elevations ranging between 800m and 3600m, offering less climbing as well as warmer temperatures than elsewhere.Helambu trekking route is also less crowded and quieter in comparison to the most popular trails while still offering a rich cultural experience amid beautiful scenery.

  43. Langtang Ganja La pass trek offers a classic adventure just north of Kathmandu. It forms an extension to our Langtang Valley Trek, turning it into a true wilderness adventure, with obligatory camping for three nights. On a clear day, the scene from the top of Ganja La (5106m) offers unparalleled views of the 150km Himalayan panorama that stretches from the 8000m Annapurna range in the far west to Langtang Lirung (7227m) in the “foreground,” Shisha Pangma (8013m) to the north in Tibet and on towards the east Langpogang (6733m) or Jugal Himal (6535m) and views to the south include Naya Kanga (5846m)

Board an early morning bus at the central bus station in Kathmandu, and the adventure begins with the 7-8 hrs.142km scenic drive through typical Nepalese villages, countless rows of carefully tended terraces and dramatic mountain and valley views. These friendly people will help you immerse yourself in their culture and traditions. The trail gradually climbs alongside the Langtang Khola, passing through forests of bamboo, maple, oak and pine. These forests are inhabited by langurs, musk deer, bears and the endangered, shy, red panda. Birds are constantly heard, more seldom seen in Ganja La pass trek Nepal.

Our Ganja La pass trekking offers new sights and experiences as you gradually ascend, over many ridges, to the village of Kyanjin Gompa – and a rest day to explore Ganja La pass region. Walk slowly from Kyanjin Gompa to Ngegang as you climb to over 4000m and then rest, in your tent, before tackling the 1000m climb up the Ganja La (5106m) and 800m drop to sleep “low” again. Ganja La pass trekking route descends continue Tarkeghyang is the first Sherpa town. It means “100 houses.” In 1727, a Lama established a monastery and requested that 100 houses be built there as his reward. The temple was rebuilt in 1969, in the Bhutanese style. Enjoy the hospitality of these friendly people. Trail then continues along the hills, through Sherpa settlements bright with prayer flags, to the road head at Melamchi: and the bus back to Kathmandu.

  44. Tamang Heritage Trek is a recently opened area, west of the Langtang Valley that aims to bring tourism money to a poor region in exchange for offering tourists the chance to interact with these people of Tibetan origin. Trekkers lodge in local lodges or homes and experience at first hand the warmth and spirit of the Tamang culture; their Buddhist beliefs and their handicrafts. Your hosts, farmers supplying produce, cultural entertainers and handicraft sales all benefit; with some money going into social funds. One distinct advantage is that Tamang heritage trekking is still “off the beaten track” and so offers a glimpse of a region ‘set back in time’ which allows time for reflection and solitude.

Tamang heritage trail winds over ridges trekking through farmlands, marshy grasslands, subtropical forests and highlands that offer magnificent views of snow covered peaks. The forests are home to Langur monkeys, bears, pandas and countless birds.

This Tamang village trek begins with a 132km 8-10 hour bus ride from Kathmandu that follows the torturous and scenically exciting road to cross the Dhotre Khola, before turning north up the Trisuli Nadi to Syabru Besi (Lower Syabru): the starting point of the trek. This is an interesting village at the confluence of the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Kola, below which it becomes the Trisuli Nadi. The first day’s trail zigzags upwards, to a ridge and a walk to the view point of the day Rongba Bhanjyang and another45 min. easy walk to Lunch. And then on up to Gatlang; the largest Tamang village in the region. The second day offers relaxation in the community hot springs at Tatopani and the third day leads to tranquil and satisfying views of the High Himalaya from the Nagthali Ghyang ridge before descending to Thuman. Staying in a family home at Briddim, complete with dinner and a demonstration of traditional dances and local handicrafts are the features of Tamang heritage trail route. A fairly short day’s trek, along the ancient salt trade route from Tibet will take you back to Syabru Besi, from where you return to Kathmandu: or extend your visit Langtang Valley trek. .
    Tamang Heritage trail itinerary:

Day 01 Arrive Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Day 02 Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)

    Day 03: Kathmandu – Syabru Besi (1,440m /4,750ft): 8-9 hrs drive, 132km

    Day 04: Syabru Besi – Gatlang (2,238m/7,340ft): 5-6 hrs.

    Day 05: Gatlang – Tatopani (2607m/8550ft): 6-7 hrs.

People who struggle with heights should not be put off trekking most paths are fairly wide and while the steel suspension bridges are sometimes high, they are well secured with very little way. Beyond Lukla and Namche Bazaar, the trail first leads, over three days, to the lakes and village of Gokyo, west of Everest’s base camp. This summer-grazing Sherpa village is situated on the slopes of Ngozumpa’s glacial moraine, below a ring of spectacular peaks. The lodges on this portion of the trek are usually less crowded than on the Everest Base Camp “tourist route”.

  55. n October 1991 Nepal’s Home Ministry finally announced the opening of the restricted areas. The first to open were Inner Dolpo and Nupri – the region north of Manaslu. In 1993: Upper Mustang and then the western Humla region (allowing cross border treks to Tibet’s Mt. Kailash). The mysterious Nar Phu valley (and a former settlement of Khampa Tibetan armed rebels) was opened in 2002.
Our wilderness treks follow ancient caravan and animal trails, and offer the ultimate opportunity of exploring cultures that have been largely untouched by ‘modern civilization’. The Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Ganesh Himal and Rolwaling Valley trails are particularly stimulating both in their variety of landscape, fauna and flora, as well as the rich local cultural heritage. Consider these treks as special, if rougher, alternatives to the crowded Annapurna, Langtang and parts of the Everest trails.

You wouldn’t face quite so many obstacles getting to the base camp of Mt. Makalu, though this is a challenging difficult trail through out of the most remote and undeveloped part of Nepal. Camping is only permitted at designated campsites but some tea houses offer local food on the recent days. a lovely high grazing area close to the tip of the Barun Glacier and surrounded by an awe-inspiring array of Himalayan peaks. 72. Nepal’s jungle safari tours are almost as famous as its trekking tours and deservedly so. There are nine National Parks, three Wildlife Reserves, and three Conservation Areas to choose from. Five parks, in the lowland terai region, and one just north of Kathmandu are easily accessible by overland. The others are in trekking areas.
    trekking in Nepal
    Nepal trekking and tour

The terai is a belt of land that stretches from the Gangetic plain in India to the foot of the Himalayan Middle Hills: a land seared by heat in summer and drenched by monsoon rains for 14-15 weeks from late June to September. Formerly it comprised thick jungle from the Bay of Bengal to Kashmir. Today most has been felled for farmland: rice paddies where irrigation is possible, elsewhere hardier crops in poor soils and harsh conditions.

  94. Trekking in Nepal - Everest Case Camp trekking

This is where true adventure begins…
This is one trip you don’t won’t to miss, & that’s why it’s aptly called the king of all trips. The journey begins with a flight to one of the highest landing airports in the world, & once we get off the twin otter, our eyes begin to take in the gigantic surroundings that stirs our emotions to the bone, as we sort out our equipment & the porters carry what has to be carried & our guides lead the way by the banks of the Dudh Kosi River. We clamber on our set trail through colorful villages as the panoramic scenery begins to take hold of us as we hike through farmlands & bump into the friendly sherpa folks, the local inhabitants of the ‘Khumbu’ {the original name of the Everest region}, known for their legendary climbing skills & warm welcoming nature; our walk soon brings us the the capital of the Khumbu, a thriving town called ‘Namche’, & this is where we get our first views of massive Everest & other silver grey peaks that literally stop the breath for a moment. Namche is the kind of town that will stun you for all the facilities it has within its boundaries, where you will find things not even available in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Namche is the first outpost that gives you your first acclimatizing process which gets your body used to the higher elevations that come further on in the course of your trip.
As we haul up for a night in Namche, we begin to observe many other fellow trekkers having a good time, of which some are on their way up while some are on their way down.
